About Your Adventure & FAQs

This page has helpful information to prepare you for your adventure with Chico Beyond Adventure!

What do I need to bring with me?
Water, shoes that can handle rocky and uneven terrain, sun protection, snacks, a pack for your belongings, and any personal medication that may be needed (in the event of a bee sting, etc.).

We will have a first aid kit and extra water on hand just in case. Don’t have a pack? We’ll have extra packs available to borrow!

Is there a minimum or maximum group size?
Chico Beyond Adventure will need a minimum of 3 participants total for each adventure to proceed. Confirmation will be sent out at least 24 hours prior to the hike. The maximum group size for each adventure is 8.

What is the cancellation policy?
Please Contact Us if you need to cancel an adventure. Cancellations received 24 hours or more prior to the start of the hike will receive a full refund. If Chico Beyond Adventure must cancel an adventure for any reason (trail closures by City of Chico, extreme heat or weather conditions, etc.) then all participants will be notified and will receive a full refund.

Do you lead any routes besides the ones listed here?
Chico Beyond Adventure operates under a Special Use Permit through the City of Chico and at this time is limited to these routes – however we chose them because they are our favorite! Additional routes may be added in the future.

Do you lead private groups?
Contact us if you’d like to schedule a hike with your private group of 8 or less. If there’s an event on the calendar with 8 remaining tickets, you can also make that event private by purchasing all 8 tickets (and doing so provides a $5 per person discount).

What are the hiking conditions in Upper Bidwell Park throughout the year?
-> January & February: Green grass galore with cool hiking temperatures.
-> March & April: Peak wildflower season with cool to warm hiking temperatures.
-> May through September: Golden grass and colorful sunsets. With the Chico heat it’s peak swimming hole season in Big Chico Creek.
-> October through December: Riparian areas by the creek see nice fall colors and the toyon bushes add splashes of red to the park. Cooler temperatures.
